Kochi : City-based Geojit Financial Services Ltd Friday launched internet trading in currency derivatives.
BNP Paribas Personal Investors deputy chief executive Vincent Lecomte opened the trading at a function here.
“We are very happy that Geojit is extending its range of online products. BNP Paribas will bring its global expertise and best practices for further strengthening Geojit’s products and services,” Lecomte said.
BNP Paribas, one of the leading online brokers in Europe, is the single largest stakeholder in Geojit and was recently awarded ‘Global Bank of the Year’ by The Banker Magazine.
Said C.J. George, Geojit managing director: “We are riding on our proven expertise in internet trading to offer our clients this new facility.”
“Since April 2008, over five million online trades have been executed. We expect growth in these numbers with the introduction of this new facility,” he added.
Geojit, which has been listed both on Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE), has over 450,000 clients, a country-wide network of 500 offices and more than Rs.54 billion (Rs.5,400 crore) in assets under management.
