Pakistan working with global community for normalcy in Afghanistan: Governor

Peshawar, Pakistan : The NWFP Governor Owais Ahmed Ghani has said that the govt. was successfully perusing its “Three Ds” policy in the insurgency hit areas, which included Dialogue, Development and Deterrence.

He said this while talking to an 80 member group of Armed Forces War Course 2008-09 of National Defence University Islamabad that called on him here on Saturday.

The participants were given a detailed presentation on the security situation in FATA and other related issues.

The policy, he added was proving fruitful as normalcy was returning to the areas with fast track and the situation now was more satisfactory then the past.

On a question the Governor said that Pakistan was working with the global community for normalcy in Afghanistan.

He said that in tribal areas, the govt.’s strategy also included the better governance, political reforms and socio-economic development. He said that an unprecedented development was taking place in FATA, which would bring progress and prosperity to these hitherto backward areas. They were also briefed on the historical background of FATA, its social and tribal structure, administrative and law and order mechanism and FCR. Pakistan’s role in the global war on terror was also highlighted along with the challenge of insurgency being faced in FATA and some parts of the province.

The group was told that Pakistan had been playing an active role in the war against terror and as its fall out we had been facing troubles in our tribal areas.
