New Delhi : “Muslim backwardness can be removed through modern, technical education only. But we will surely appeal that Muslims should demonstrate their political acumen in this age” said the administrator of Deoband’s Jamia Tibbiyya, Dr. Syed Anwar Sa’yeed. Jamia Tibbiyya is an apolitical educational institution devoted to Muslim welfare.
Welcoming U. P. government’s decision to establish separate Unani directorate, Dr. Anwar Said, “It will help Tibbiyya colleges being run in Uttar Pradesh besides spurring progress of Tibb-ee-Unani.”
He demanded to open separate Unani directorates in all Indian states and running special projects for Tibb-e-Unani.
On Muslim situation, Dr. Anwar said, “Sachar Committee has amply exposed this. But Muslims themselves should strive to rise higher. Sole dependence on the government is not a wise thing. Government should work in those areas only where it can benefit people” he said stressing “Muslims should establish their own educational institutions; not only educational but also other types because backwardness can be removed in this way.”
