According to the police, Arvind Kumar Mishra, 38, who works at the District Inspector of Schools’ (DIOS) office in Mau, Thursday fired at the State Bank of India (SBI) ATM with his licensed revolver, destroying it.

“However, even after that, he was not able to take out any money from the machine,” additional superintendent of police Diwakar Kumar told IANS over telephone from Mau.

Mishra was arrested Friday after a police complaint was registered by the bank branch’s manager.

He was identified after the police viewed the footage of the CCTV installed at the ATM, which the bank manager provided, the police officer added.

Mau is some 250 km from Lucknow.
