Lucknow: Terming Manmohan Singh a weak prime minister, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh Monday accused the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government of not taking strict steps to fight terrorism.
“Under the leadership of a weak prime minister, the Congress-led UPA government has failed completely in combating terrorism,” he said at an election rally in Uttar Pradesh’s Mainpuri district.
The Congress-led UPA government only cared about votes and was not bothered about the security of the country, he added.
Drawing a parallel between development of Chhattisgarh and Uttar Pradesh, Raman Singh said: “Our BJP government in Chhattisgarh is providing 24-hour power supply in major parts of the state, while the Mayawati government here is able to provide only 12-hour power supply in most of the parts of UP.”
Launching an attack on the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and the Samajwadi Party (SP), he said both the parties had never cared for all-round development of the state, as a result of which it still lags behind in terms of development.
He said both Mayawati and Mulayam Singh Yadav worked merely for “personal gains and interest” after becoming the chief ministers of the state.
He called on the people to support the BJP in the Lok Sabha polls so that it could undertake the desired developmental projects in Uttar Pradesh and other states of the country.
The Chhattisgarh chief minister addressed as many as four election rallies in Mainpuri in support of Tripti Shakya, a popular Bhojpuri folk singer, who is the party’s candidate for the Mainpuri parliamentary seat.
