Advani, Modi to tour Tamil Nadu

Chennai : Top Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders are set to make a whirlwind tour of Tamil Nadu, where elections are to be held May 13 in the last phase of the staggered Lok Sabha polls.

“Prime ministerial candidate L.K. Advani, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, BJP president Rajnath Singh and (veteran) film star Hema Malini will be campaigning for our own and alliance candidates in Tamil Nadu,” K.T. Raghavan, the party’s state media in-charge, told IANS.

Advani is scheduled to address an election meeting in Nagercoil in Kanyakumari constituency Thursday morning, Paramakudi in the Ramanathapuram constituency in the afternoon and in Chennai in the evening.

The BJP is contesting from 12 of the 39 constituencies in the state.

Modi is expected to visit Tamil Nadu May 9 while Rajnath Singh May 10.

“The tour programmes of Modi, Singh and Hema Malini are yet to be finalised,” said Raghavan.
