A division bench headed by Chief Justice Ajit Prakash Shah and Justice Neeraj Kishna Kaul asked the Delhi government to provide the requisite infrastructure to the court so that the facility can be implemented on an urgent basis.

The court was hearing a public interest petition, asking the government not to infringe on the fundamental rights of an undertrial, who has not yet been held guilty by the court.

The court ruled that undertrials would now be provided with a chair and table in the courtroom, but stressed that they have to follow the ethics as followed by others in the court to maintain decorum.
