Ghaziabad : About half a dozen criminals barged into the house of a tailor and hanged his younger daughter to death with her own dupatta (stole) in Ghaziabad district Monday night, police said Tuesday.
Ghaziabad police chief Akhil Kumar, who visited the tailor Surendra Jatav’s house in Fafrana area in Modinagar town of the district, said that according to Jatav’s elder daughter Babli, about half a dozen criminals barged into their house Monday night while their parents were away. The criminals locked her into a room before dragging her younger sister, Guddan (15) to a corner where they hanged her with her own dupatta, thrown over a beam.
The criminals fled the spot after killing Guddan. Neighbours freed Babli on hearing her shouts and informed the police, he added.
According to Jatav, a customer, Purshottam owed Guddan money for the job work she had done but was refusing to pay her despite several requests and might be behind the crime. A text message was also sent to Guddan’s mobile phone in which she was threatened, he added.
The police said it was investigating the case.
