Kolkata : Political parties take out victory processions after wins. But the Dum Dum constituency in West Bengal’S North 24-Parganas district saw an unusual sight Saturday as the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) cadres started celebrating even before the first trend from the seat was available.
CPI-M workers were seen playing with colours and shouting ‘Inqilab zindabad’ in front of the counting centre for the constituency.
The CPI-M has won the seat seven out of eight times since 1980.
However, a CPI-M leader criticised the workers for celebrating in advance. “One may be confident about a seat. Yes, Dum Dum is a stronghold. But starting such celebrations even before the results are announced is a bit foolish,” said north 24 Parganas district CPI-M leader Tanmoy Bhattacharya.
