“Matta town residents have been directed to safely move out of the town by 12 noon today (Sunday),” the military said in a statement, which was also announced on local FM radio.

The evacuation order meant that the full throttled military offensive against the militants could outreach from Shangla up to Matta in a few hours, the report said.

Meanwhile, the offensive titled “Operation Rah-e-Haq” was under way in Malakand division with security forces shelling millitant hideouts and the insurgents blowing up a higher secondary school in the region Saturday.
