Islamabad : Pakistani security forces have killed 27 miscreants and terrorists including 3 top commanders in 24 hours, army said Momday.
The commanders included Okasha, Malanga and Riaz while 3 Security Forces personel, including an officer have also been killed and 17 soldiers were injured.
Fierce clashes are taking place in different areas, said the army spokesman Major General Athar Abbas.
Abbas also told a news conference that the security forces are engaged with miscreants and the terrorists inside Kanju town in Swat to clear and secure the area.
He said the security forces are expanding their foothold in Peochar valley, once the stronghold and training center of Taliban. He said the troops attacked and secured Dumber Training Centre, which was also being used by miscreants-terrorists as their logistic base.
Reportedly 12 miscreants terrorists were killed in clashes, he said.
The spokesman said that the operation is in progress in Takhtaband area, in a close encounter, seven miscreants-terrorists were killed including important commanders Malanga and Riaz. “Dead body of Malanga is lying with the Security Forces,” he added.
General Abbas said that MamDherai, center of Taliban leader Maulana Fazalullah, has been targeted and reportedly 10-15 miscreant terrorists hiding inside have been killed.
He also said that the security forces are continuing with cordon and search operations in Matta Town, another stronghold of the Taliban.
