Two security personnel were also killed and 18 others injured in the operations in various districts in NWFP, military spokesman Major General Athar Abbas said at a press conference.

He added that the military wanted to complete its operation against the militants as soon as possible. More areas in the Buner district have been cleared of the militants, he said.

The Pakistani troops have surrounded the region from all sides and there is no chance for the militants to escape, Abbas said.

He said he has no information on the fate of the Taliban leader Maulana Fazlullah, who leads the group in Swat.
