Kochi: The working committee of the OSFOJNA (alumni association of the Jamia Nuriya Arabic College) decided to open Junior Shariat Colleges and higher madrasas as the sister institutions of the Jamia Nuriya Arabic College with a fixed syllabus. The decision has been taken, reportedly, as there was a shortage of able scholars to lead in the religious institutions as well as religious activities.

The Jamia Sahasthapana (Sister Institutions) Coordination Committee has also been formed with Hyderali Shihab Thangal as the chairman and Prof K Alikkutty Musliyar as the convenor. PP Muhammed Faisy is the coordinator.

The junior colleges and madrasas affiliated with the Jamia Nooriya will admit students who have passed the SSLC (10th standard). The students will also be given training in modern Arabic and Urdu languages. The students will be selected according to a unified entrance exam.

The courses offered by many Arabic Colleges and Islamic Universities are also recognised by other famous universities inside and outside the country like the Aligarh Muslim University, the Al Azhar University and the Madeena University.
