Cairo : Secretary General of Arab League Amr Moussa said Monday that he believes Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas should continue to assume the responsibility of leading the Palestinian people.
Moussa lauded Abbas for his “no talks without the halt of settlements” stance, saying such sentiment reflected the true patriotic nature of the Palestinian leader.
This comes in comment over recent announcement by Abbas that he would not run in the Palestinian Presidential elections, scheduled for November 24, 2010. The announcement was met by different reactions on Arab and world level.
The League’s committee on the Arab peace initiative will hold a meeting Thursday to discuss means to revive the peace process, jeopardized by irrational Israeli actions.
