“Delhi Metro recorded the highest passenger earning till date on Nov 14 (Saturday) at Rs.1.64 crore,” its spokesman Anuj Dayal said.

The newly opened Noida link which opened to public Friday was also doing brisk business, he added.

“The new Yamuna Bank-Noida section fetched Rs.18 lakh (Rs.1.8 million) and Rs.19 lakh (Rs.1.9 million) on the first and second days respectively,” Dayal said.

After months of delay, the Delhi Metro finally opened its Noida Line just a day ahead of the annual India International Trade Fair at Pragati Maidan here. The Pragati Maidan Metro station is on the Noida Line’s extension into central and southwest Delhi.

The Delhi Metro will also be selling trade fair tickets at a Rs.10 discount (on the Rs.60 adult or Rs.30 child ticket) from Nov 19 to Nov 27 when the fair will be open to general public, Dayal added.

This Noida Line is Delhi Metro’s first foray outside the capital city and into the national capital region that encompasses parts of the adjoining states of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Rajasthan.

The corridor is an elevated stretch with 10 stations. Commuters from the last stop – Noida’s City Centre – can land right in the heart of the national capital at Connaught Place’s Rajiv Chowk Station in a mere 36 minutes.
