New Delhi: The Delhi High Court Tuesday asked the Delhi Police to trace a Bangladeshi woman, who fled her country to marry a person whom she met on the internet, after her father alleged that she is illegally living in India on forged documents.
Justice V.K. Jain asked the police to find the girl and bring her before the court Dec 10, the next date of hearing.
The court asked the police not to arrest or harass the couple unnecessarily and convince them to co-operate in the investigation.
The court was hearing the plea of the girl’s father, Capt Abdus Sabur Khan of the Bangladesh Army who alleged that her daughter was kidnapped from Bangladesh and illegally married to Salman, as she was already married.
The couple met three years ago on the internet and their cyber chitchat soon blossomed into a relationship.
The two met in person for the first time in 2008 when Salman flew to Bangladesh from the United Arab Emirates, where he was working as a property consultant. The girl then came to India and the couple then moved a petition in the court in July, seeking protection which was granted to them.
Meanwhile, her father sought the help of Bangladesh High Commission in India, where authorities wrote to the home ministry, asking that the girl be traced and handed over to her parents in Bangladesh.
