New Delhi: A 17-year-old girl was allegedly raped by two of her neighbours, both property dealers, in southwest Delhi Monday, police said Tuesday.
“The incident took place yesterday (Monday) when the girl was returning from the market after shopping. Dharmender, 31, and Praveen, 29, were arrested after the girl’s family complained about the incident,” a senior police officer said.
“The girl’s family is friendly with property dealers. On Monday, while she was going for shopping the duo offered her a lift. When they were returning, the two took the car to a secluded place and raped her,” the officer added.
“They later dropped her at her home. They threatened her of dire consequences if she revealed it to anyone,” the officer further said.
However, the girl told her mother who then complained to police after which the duo were arrested. The girl studies in a government school and is a resident of Mahipalpur area.
“Her medical examination confirmed the rape,” the police officer added.
