New Delhi : The national capital Wednesday reported 19 new dengue cases, taking the total number of those affected by the mosquito-born disease to 1,041, health officials said.
“We have received 19 new dengue cases in the past 24 hours and the cumulative total stands at 1,041,” Debashish Bhattacharya, the health department’s nodal officer for dengue, told IANS.
The national capital Tuesday reported two dengue deaths. A 25-year-old man suffering from the disease died at the St. Stephen’s hospital here Monday. The health officials, however, are not counting it in the official dengue toll of the capital saying the patient was not a Delhi resident and had come to Delhi for treatment.
The health department said that the second death reported Tuesday – of a 22-year-old man was also because of dengue but he was not confirmed to be a Delhi resident. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) is yet to confirm this death.
Before these, two more deaths were reported from the capital — one of a 15-year-old boy and the other of a nine-year-old boy.
