Lucknow : Congress MPs, legislators and other office bearers in Uttar Pradesh have got instructions from the ‘high command’ to spend Gandhi Jayanti with the Dalits in their constituencies and native places, a party official said Thursday.
“I am in my native place in Rudrapur village of Devariya district. Like me, all the serving MPs, legislators, ex-MPs and legislators and office bearers of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) have been instructed to spend Oct 2 with Dalits,” A.P. Singh, UPCC spokesperson, told IANS over phone.
All Congress leaders will have breakfast, lunch and dinner with Dalits and also stay with them overnight, he added.
“We will also make them aware about the central government schemes that are in progress for their welfare and also help them get maximum advantage for their well being,” Singh added.
