The minister, who returned from a European tour Saturday, said the landmark agreement signed with Denmark on Labour Mobility Partnership last week would “enable Danish industry and business to recruit Indians on the fast track”.

There was an urgent demand for 1,500 nurses in Denmark, he said.

“This agreement will be replicated with other nations and the government is currently working to sign it with the European Union,” Ravi told reporters.

He said the country was “Gulf centric” but now want to diversify workers to other European countries.

“We want an orderly and legal migration of skilled workers to the European Union,” he said, noting the EU countries were facing a shortage of workforce.
