Mondal had already been suspended for two matches after hurling abuses and pushing referee A. Rowan during an I-League match. Rowan had given marching orders to the player for a diving tackle following which Mondal had a heated exchange with the referee.

Mohun Bagan had appealed against the player’s two-match ban but the disciplinary committee found the player guilty and also fined him.

Mondal had missed Monday’s match against Viva Kerala and will also miss the derby against arch-rivals East Bengal slated for Oct 25.

The AIFF said in a statement that the player has to pay the fine in the next 10 days.

The committee also asked Mahindra United midfielder Steven Dias to return the advance money of Rs.200,000 he had taken from East Bengal by Oct 25. He will be suspended if he fails to pay the money by Oct 25.
