“We will seek steps to strengthen the economic development and defence preparedness of the state,” he said.

Slamming China for criticising the prime minister’s visit to the state, the Congress parliamentarian said China has only one agenda – expansionism.

“Now, they will claim Assam or even Gujarat,” he told reporters, asserting that “no force can alienate Arunachal Pradesh from India.”

Sanjay said India should have taken “strong and assertive stand” on the issue much earlier.

He praised Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee who said that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s visit to Arunachal Pradesh was his constitutional right as the state was an “integral part” of India.

“Pranab’s statement was very correct,” he said.

Sanjay said the delegation would also meet Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Defence Minister A.K. Antony, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee and National Security Advisor M.K. Narayanan during its visit to Delhi.
