The call on the minister’s phone Tuesday was attended by his personal assistant J.P. Namdev.

The caller insisted on talking to the minister. “Later, he said that he would blow up the minister; when I asked him about his identity, he said he was a Naxalite,” Namdev told police.

“Since the cell phone used to make the threatening call was found to be registered in the name of someone in Damoh whose location at the time of calling was traced to Sagar district, a police team was dispatched to Damoh,” Inspector Umesh Tiwari told IANS.

The team arrested two persons from Narsingarh town, both minors, who have confessed to have called the minister and threatened him.

One of them reportedly told the police that he was annoyed with the minister because his family had sought help from Malaiya for the treatment of her sister suffering from brain tumour, but he did not respond despite several requests.

Both arrested minors are being brought to Bhopal for further investigations, said the police official.
