Chhattisgarh to announce new industrial policy soon

Raipur: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh met the state’s major investors here Monday to give the final touches to the government’s new industrial policy.

Industry department officials said the government would offer several sops to business houses if they were willing to set up industries in the state’s poverty-hit areas.

“The meeting with investors was held to know their views and also brief them on what the government wants,” an industry department official told IANS.

“The government is focussed on promoting industries that will create maximum job opportunities for the vast local impoverished population,” he added.

The state that was formed in November 2000 had released its maiden industrial policy in 2004 for a period of five years.
