Delhi Police counsel appointed as high court judge

New Delhi: The president of India Thursday appointed Mukta Gupta, standing counsel for Delhi Police, as an additional judge of the Delhi High Court.

Gupta, who was the counsel for Delhi Police for almost 10 years, will take the oath of office Friday.

Gupta was born June 28, 1961 and completed her graduation in Zoology from Hindu College in the capital.

She completed her law degree from Campus Law Centre in the Delhi University in 1983 and soon thereafter joined the profession.

Since 2000, as the counsel for police, Gupta has dealt with all major criminal cases like Red Fort attack case, Jessica Lal murder, Priyadarshini Mattoo murder and the Batla House shoot out.
