New Delhi : The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) is flouting court orders by not removing their dispensary from a primary school run by the civic agency in Trilok Puri area of East Delhi and could face contempt of court proceedings, a NGO said Sunday.
“The dispensary is being run illegally as the premises are allotted for running a school. Due to this illegal occupation of the premises, students of the school have been deprived of facilities for quality education,” said advocate Ashok Agarwal, convenor of NGO Social Jurist.
Agarwal wrote a letter to the MCD Commissioner Sunday warning him to remove the dispensary from the school and cited a 2002 Delhi High Court order that bars MCD from running any other institution from the school premises.
Agarwal cited the incident last week where a teacher was stabbed in a classroom by a person visiting the dispensary within the school premises.
“Despite protests by the parents, MCD has taken no action to remove the dispensary from the school premises and to hand over the premises to the principal of the school for utilising the same as classrooms for the students. Had MCD taken action to remove the dispensary from the school premises, the said incident could have been avoided,” Agarwal said.
