Kochi: Abdussamad Samadani has again been elected as the Kerala state president of the Anjuman Tharqi e Urdu.
Other office bearers are Dr Abdul Gafoor Kodiyathoor (general secretary), CK Ahmed Abul Khair, Prof Gous Muhiyudheen and T Muhammed (vice-presidents), Ahmed Kutty Kalathil, KP Shamsudheen and MT Muhammed (secretaries) and P Moideen Kutty (treasurer). The meeting to elect new office-bearers was held in Calicut and presided over by Mr Samadani. The meeting demanded that the degree courses offered by the Moulana Azad National Urdu University should be given equivalency certificates by the Calicut University.
Abdussamad Samadani is the national secretary of the Indian Union Muslim League. He became famous among the Muslim community through the series of speeches titled ‘The Road to Madeena’ that he delivered during the Ramadan a few years ago. His speeches are noted for the various quotes from Urdu poetry, especially those of Allama Iqbal.
