Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid formally handed over the Education Policy to the Prime Minister at her Jatiya Sangsad office here.

Education Secretary Ataur Rahman and Additional Education Secretary Razia Begum, among others, were present on the occasion.

After submitting the report, the Education Minister told journalists that the draft of the new education policy would be displayed in the website of the ministry of education to enable the people express their opinions on the policy.

The people would be able to express their opinion on the policy till September 30, he added.

Nahid, however, expressed the hope that the government will be able to announce the National Education Policy by December this year after scrutinizing the opinion of people on the policy.

Describing education as the main driving force to implement the vision 2021 announced by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he said the government will be able to build a modern and digital Bangladesh free from illiteracy, superstition and corruption by creating skilled human resources through implementation of the education policy.

Though it is a great challenge on the government to implement the vision 2021 and build digital Bangladesh, Nahid said, the government is pledged-bound to achieve the goal by facing the challenge.

Earlier, the government has constituted a 18-member National Education Commission with National Professor Kabir Chowdhury as its chairman and Dr Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad as vice-chairman. The commission submitted its report to the ministry of education on September 2 last.
