Chennai: National carrier Air India could operate only seven flights out of here Tuesday while cancelling 14 due to its executive pilots’ agitation.
An airline official told IANS here that the flights that got cancelled were bound for Kuala Lumpur, Sharjah, Colombo, Kuwait, Singapore, Dubai and several domestic destinations.
He said the airline managed the situation by combining flights and requesting other airlines for seats.
He said the fate of the early morning flights will be known only around an hour before the departure.
“Passengers will be informed and wherever possible alternative measures will be made,” he said.
The airline offers around 3,500 seats out of here daily.
The pilots, demanding bonus arrears and perks, have gone on mass sick leave since Saturday.
