Jhajjar (Haryana): A mob pelted stones at outgoing Haryana assembly Speaker Raghubir Singh Kadiyan during an election rally here ahead of next month’s polls, officials said.
Kadiyan, who is contesting the Oct 13 polls on the Congress ticket from Beri constituency, had gone to Dhigal village on Rohtak road.
“When he stepped out of his car, his supporters carried him on their shoulders and started moving towards the dais. Suddenly some people started pelting stones at Kadiyan and one of them also fired in the air. This created panic and people started running helter skelter,” a police official said.
But Kadiyan tried to keep the situation under control and told his supporters to maintain law and order.
“We have registered a case against unknown people and started investigations. Police teams are raiding various places to nab the accused,” said Saurabh Singh, the district police chief.
