Mau (Uttar Pradesh): A gangster wanted in over 20 criminal cases was Saturday gunned down in this Uttar Pradesh town by a team of the state police’s special task force (STF), police said.
Raja Chauhan, 35, who was wanted in several cases of murder, abduction, loot and other heinous crimes, was shot dead in Dakshintola town in Mau district, about 280 km from Lucknow.
“Chauhan was also closely linked with arrested Independent MLA Mukhtar Ansari. Actually, he was one of the sharp shooters of Ansari, who is in an Uttar Pradesh jail in connection with the murder of BJP legislator Krishnanand Rai,” a police official said.
