Legislator Subhash Chand Manglet from Chopal in Shimla district was booked Monday for intimidating a sub divisional magistrate and obstructing him from discharging his duties.

As the assembly session began in the morning, Congress Legislature Party leader Vidya Stokes got up and urged Speaker Tulsi Ram to allow an adjournment motion to discuss the situation arising out of registration of the case against Manglet.

Tulsi Ram told the members that the issue would be discussed after the question hour.

However, the Congress members said it was a serious issue concerning the rights and privileges of the legislators and came to the well of the house and started raising slogans against the government. They said the case was politically motivated and should be withdrawn.

Replying to the opposition allegations, Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal said the government would not withdraw the case and would conduct an inquiry into the matter.

Later, Tulsi Ram started the proceedings of the house that lasted for less than an hour. He then adjourned the house for the day.
