Metro man Sreedharan suffers cardiac arrest, stable

New Delhi : Delhi Metro Managing Director E. Sreedharan suffered a cardiac arrest Wednesday morning and was admitted to a city hospital here. Doctors said his condition was stable.

Sreedharan, 77, was admitted to the Apollo Hospital here at 8.30 a.m. after he complained of chest pain and uneasiness, sources at the hospital said.

“His condition is stabilising now. He is fine. We will have to watch over him for sometime and monitor his vitals before he can be discharged,” a doctor treating him told IANS.

Sreedharan was scheduled to board a flight for Kolkata Wednesday.

Sreedharan revolutionised the national capital’s transport with the rapidly expanding network of the Metro, work on which started in 2002. He is also lauded for his stint as head of the Konkan Railways under the railways ministry.
