Sania Mirza can represent India even after marriage with Pak cricketer: Sports Minister

Bhopal: Federal Minister of State for Sports and Youth Affairs Pratik Prakashbabu Patil has stated that tennis star Sania Mirza could continue to represent India, even after tying the nuptial knot with the Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Malik.

Patil stated this while talking to the media persons during his visit to Bhopal here. He said marriage is a personal choice of an individual. “If Sania is marrying Shoaib then it is her choice and the issue should not be linked to her sports career”, he remarked.

He informed the Federal Ministry for Sports and Youth Welfare would start a portal dedicated to the youth of India for youths within one year. He said that the portal could be used by the youths for getting the information about the policies of the ministry and for informing the ministry about their problems.

Patil discussed the future schemes of the ministry and preparations of the Commonwealth Games.

He reached the city in the morning and visited Sports Authority of India, (SAI), centre in Bhopal and oversaw the activities going on there. He also held a meeting with the SAI officials and coaches and discussed the preparations of the coming events and also inquired about the international facilities being given to the players at SAI. During his visit, the minister met with the national Wushu players and also witnessed their sporting skills.
