Bhubaneswar: The heat wave intensified in Orissa Saturday with the maximum temperature reaching 45 degrees in one town – the highest in the season so far in the state, an official said.
The sizzling temperature was recorded in Jharsuguda town, 374 km from here, while the western town of Sambalpur, some 317 km from here, recorded 44.5 degree, an official of the Bhubaneswar meteorological centre told IANS.
Several other places in the state also recorded maximum temperatures well above 40 degrees – Sundergarh (44 degrees), Angul (43.7), Baripada (43.6) and Bolangir (43.2).
The maximum temperature recorded at state capital Bhubaneswar and adjoining Cuttack city was 41.2 degrees Celsius, the official said.
The heat wave conditions are expected to prevail over some parts of the state Sunday too, he added.
