Shimla sizzles at 27 degrees Celsius

Shimla: Himachal Pradesh continued to experience hot weather Saturday with temperatures in some parts touching 40.6 degrees Celsius and the state capital Shimla recording a high of 27 degrees Celsius, nine notches above average.

“Temperatures continued to move up across the state due to lack of rain. The maximum temperature remained above average by seven to nine degrees Celsius,” Manmohan Singh, director of the meteorological office here, told IANS.

He said Una town, located on the Punjab border, was the hottest in the state with a high of 40.6 degrees Celsius.

Sundernagar in Mandi district recorded a maximum of 36.8 degrees Celsius, Bhuntar in Kullu district recorded 35 degrees Celsius and Kalpa in Kinnaur district recorded 22.1 degrees Celsius.

The met department said the weather would largely remain dry Sunday.
