Masood who is the patron of All India Hussaini Sunni Board (AIHSB) did not rule out the possibility of forming a seperate forum and even associating with the AIMPLB (Jadded) headed by Maulana Tauqeer Raza of Bareilly.

His father Maulana Muzaffar Hussain Kichauchvi was the Vice-President of the AIMPLB in the past for several years before his death in 90s.

“My voice was throttled during the recently held annual convention of the board in Lucknow. I had opposed the nomination of Maulana Rabey Hasan Nadwi as chairman of the board for third term but my dissent was not noted. The board is occupied by ‘wahabis’ who are making merry from the alms received from Saudi Arabia. Their opposition to the Central Madarsa Board as formulated by union government is also a move to retain their hold over madarsas,” said Masood while interacting with reporters on Monday.

His resignation received support from President, All India Mohammadi Mission (AIMM), Syed Ayyub Ashraf and Shaher Qazi of Lucknow Maulana Abul Irfan Farangi Mahli. Hailing Masood’s step they castigated the board for its stubborn attitude which has led to birth of several personal law boards in recent times.

“I had just demanded adequate representation of all sects in the board but it was turned down. The issue of women reservation was struck down terming it as not within the purview of shariah,” said Maulana Masood.
