Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda Saturday directed officials to expedite the construction of the 135.65-km-long Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) expressway, which has already missed its deadline by six months.
The KMP expressway passes over National Highway-8 at Panchgaon village, about five km from Manesar in Gurgaon district. It will enable trucks from across the country by-pass Delhi and go through Manesar into Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and other states.
The construction work on the expressway started in 2006. It originates from Kundli in Sonepat district and culminates at Palwal after passing through Jhajjar, Rohtak and Gurgaon and connects NH-1, NH-10, NH-8 and NH-2.
Hooda conducted an aerial inspection of the KMP expressway from Kundli to Manesar from where he inspected its progress by road.
He pulled up the officials of DS construction company for the delay in the work, which was to be completed by November 1, 2009.
Talking about other projects, Hooda said, “A global corridor would be developed along the KMP expressway to ensure planned development of the area and to provide employment opportunities to the people.”
