Chandigarh : The father of the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) doctor, who died after falling from the fourth floor of the building here, said he was being harassed by some seniors and his death could not be a case of suicide.
The body of the doctor, Nagender Reddy, who hailed from Bangalore, was found near the parking area of the institute’s Kairon block Monday.
Police had also called forensic experts to collect clues from the spot. Although no suicide note was found, they are not ruling out the possibility of suicide.
However, Reddy’s parents, who reached Chandigarh from Bangalore Monday evening, ruled out the possibility of suicide and demanded a thorough probe into the incident.
“Nagender was a bright student; he was a brave man and he could never commit suicide. Yes, he had told his mother that some of his seniors were harassing him but we had suggested him to leave the job and return,” his father Ayeppa Reddy said.
“In fact his ticket was also booked. So we cannot believe the suicide story,” he added.
“We will meet senior officials of the Chandigarh Police and make sure that a fair probe is done.”
The doctor, who was working as a junior resident at the institute, had come to the city in January. He was residing in the doctors’ hostel on the PGIMER campus in Sector 12.
“We are looking into various aspects of the case. We are waiting for the post-mortem report,” a police official said.
“While searching his hostel room, we found his laptop on. Our cyber crime team has seized it and is scrutinising its data,” he added.
