New Delhi: Principals of two former schools attended by Indian Mujahideen terror suspect and Delhi serial blast accused Salman Ahmad have produced in a city court documents that point to two different dates of birth of the accused.
Principal of Mumbai’s Brihan Mumbai Mahanagar Palika School Rita Mandal Tuesday appeared before Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Kaveri Baweja and produced admission forms showing Ahmad’s date of birth as Feb 9, 1992.
In the last hearing, principal of Ahmad’s Azamgarh school Raj Kumar Yadav appeared with school records which showed his date of birth as Oct 3, 1992.
The court is examining witnesses to verify Ahmad’s age who claimed he was a minor at the time of Sep 13, 2008 Delhi serial blasts that killed 26 people and left 135 injured.
Mandal said: “His (Ahmad’s) grandmother came and filled his admission form, we do not pay much attention to the date of birth during the admission procedure.”
The court had summoned principals of Ahmad’s two schools, Mahadev Inter College, Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh, and Brihan Mumbai Mahanagar Palika School in Mumbai.
Four doctors from the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) are also being examined to verify Ahmad’s age.
“A dentist was examined Tuesday who said that the exact age of a person can be found out before 18 years of age, after that it may not be wholly correct,” Khalil Ansari, defence counsel, told reporters.
CMM Baweja will examine the remaining three doctors April 21.
On March 15, the court directed AIIMS to determine Ahmad’s age. A medical board submitted a report March 23 in court and said Ahmed’s age was 25-26 years.
