Standing counsel of Delhi Police, Pawan Sharma, informed Justice Siddharth Mridul that protection will be given to the couple.

The court directed the police to take appropriate steps for the security of the couple.

The couple approached court for protection from the girl’s family members, who threatened the youth that they would slap a case of kidnapping against him unless he left the girl alone.

The couple married April 24 in a temple according to Hindu marriage rites.

They had sought direction from the court that a police official concerned of Mayapuri police station be barred from taking any coercive action against them.

The court also issued a notice to the father of the girl and directed him to file his response to the couple’s allegation by Aug 27.
