Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Thursday faced the anger of the relatives of the youth injured in the recent protests as he came to a hospital here to visit them
Abdullah visited the Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) at Soura Thursday afternoon to enquire about the well-being of the injured who are admitted in the only super-specialty hospital in the state.
The chief minister went around the hospital wards and intensive care units where some injured youth interacted with him normally.
But, when the chief minister left the hospital, many attendants and relatives of the patients who had been asked to vacate the wards prior to the visit, faced him at the entrance and shouted at him, while some even raising slogans against the government.
Eyewitnesses said Abdullah maintained his cool and prevented the securitymen accompanying him from any action against the angry gathering.
This is the chief minister’s first visit to any hospital during recent weeks where victims of violence that broke out her since June 11 have been admitted.
Abdullah had flown to the hospital in a state government helicopter although it is located barely 10 km from the city centre, Lal Chowk.
