Delhi wakes up to pleasant morning, rains expected

New Delhi : Delhiites woke up to a pleasant and cloudy Thursday as the city received a light drizzle in the morning. More rains are expected during the day, the weather office said.

“The skies will remain cloudy with more rain predicted in the capital. One or two spells may be heavy,” an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

A minimum temperature of 25.5 degrees Celsius, a notch below normal for this time of the season, was recorded. The maximum temperature is expected to settle around 34 degrees.

The maximum and minimum humidity oscillated between a high of 97 percent and 57 percent respectively.

Delhi was lashed by heavy rains Wednesday evening and the city traffic was badly affected.

There were huge traffic snarls across the city because of water logging. The worst affected were Kailash Colony, Karol Bagh, ITO, Rajghat, Laxmi Nagar, Dwarka, Moolchand Intersection, Mathura Road, Connaught Place, Dhaula Kuan and South Extension.

The capital received a total of 20.6 mm of rainfall from Wednesday till 8.30 a.m. Thursday. The total recorded rain for this season till Thursday morning was 362.2 mm.
