Chennai: Tamilnadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam president, Prof Jawahirullah condemned the arrest of Kerala’s People Democratic Party (PDP) leader and religious scholar Abdun Nasar Maudany. Maudany was arrested by Karnataka police in Kerala on 17 August in connection with the 2008 Bangalore blast.
Prof Jawahirullah said that the arrest of Maudany was nothing but a political conspiracy and a wreak by the vested interests. He equally denounced the Left led Kerala Government which, he said, “made the arrest easier.”
“Maudany has been arrested on the basis of a confessional statement given by an accused in Bangalore Bomb blast case. Maudany has been arraigned as the 31st accused in the case”, said Prof Jawahirullah. He also wondered how such an arrest could be based by sheer confessions and statement of an accused without confirming the veracity of facts and figures.
One can easily wonder that such an arrest wherein respected Muslim leaders like Maudany, based by verbal confession, without fact finding is nothing but a political score and heavy blow to the rights of democracy and to the constitutional guarantee. In such game play BJP governed Karnataka always has been in forefront bringing conditions inimical to the minorities, Muslims in particular.
“Maudany is no dwarf politician for such an ugly act of Karnataka. A devout Muslim, Maudany i being arrested, worse in the holy month of Ramzan, is highly condemnable,” said Professor Jawahirullah.
He also observed that the number of criminal cases pertaining to Saffron Brigade, all went scot- free without legal course of actions or punishment, and even few of the court verdicts existed, were contemptuously ignored by that gang”
“When the terror ridden activities of saffron leaders are dealt with leniently, it is pure discrimination that a Muslim Political leader is made to a target arrest merely on the confessional statement of an accused” asks Professor Jawahirullah.
He also feels that a man like Maudany who had been acquitted and released after almost a period of ten years as “NOT GUILTY”, whose mind and body ought have been down terribly by now, and again the ordeals of imprisonment like this one, is nothing but inhuman in nature and such arrest based on “flimsy” material is ridiculous and farce” said Professor Jawahirullah.
