By TwoCircles.net Staff Correspondent,

Thiruvananthapuram: A former guard of PDP chairman Abdunnasir Maudany expressed his willingness to testify before the Karnataka police in the Bengaluru blast case if the Kerala police permitted him. Shajahan, a police constable who joined the guard team for Maudany in 2008, explained his part reportedly in the testimony submitted before state Special Branch SP and DySP, at the request of the Karnataka police. Maudany was taken to Kudak for collection of evidences on Saturday. Meanwhile the police have sent notices to two more persons asking them to be present for questioning.

Shajahan reportedly said in the testimony that he had requested the Kerala police to take the necessary follow-up measures as he was sent a notice by the Karnataka police, but in vain. He also refuted the accusation that he was unlawfully on medical leave. The Karnataka police had demanded that they wanted the testimony from Shajahan on the main charge against Maudany that the latter had taken part in the conspiracy for Bengaluru blast held in Kudak in Karnataka. Shajahan was given a notice on this regard on July 6 via Kollam Special Branch DySP.

The ‘Kudak conspiracy’ is said to be held in 2007 end. But Shajahan was appointed as Maudany’s gunman on February 1, 2008, and was in duty till July 1, 2010 when he joined the Kollam AR, according to reports. Shajahan received the notice of the Karnataka police as per directions of the Kollam Special Branch DySP. He had reportedly informed the Kollam SP and the SBCID SP about his receipt of the notice and asked them to take the follow-up measures on the same on July 8. But there was no official follow-up on the matter. However, the Karnataka police too have not sent any other notice as he had not appeared before them in the stipulated time.

The Bengaluru Central Crime Branch which investigates the case has sent notices to PDP state secretary Rajeeb and Maudany’s aide Hameed Master asking them to appear for interrogations. The police are reportedly trying to interrogate the prime suspect Thadiyantavide Naseer in the presence of Maudany. There are also reports that the IB may interrogate Maudany to know if he had any role in the other bomb blasts in the country.
Maudany was taken to Kudak on Saturday for collecting evidences and was brought back to Bengaluru at dawn on Sunday. But the collection of evidences went on with Maudany not even getting out of the car. The long car journey of about 700 kilometres has reportedly weakened Maudany. Maudany’s lawyer had last day criticised the police for not following the High Court order to consider Maudany’s health conditions during the custody.

Protest

Meanwhile, protests against the second imprisonment of Maudany are increasing in Kerala. The silence of the cultural and political leadership of Kerala on the human rights violations meted out to PDP chairman Abdunnasir Maudany is highly condemnable, opined the protest meeting organized by the Maudany Human Rights Committee. The meeting was held at Palayam raising the slogan ‘Maudany’s arrest is unjust’.

Joint efforts are necessary against the move to imprison Maudany again after torturing him for nearly 10 years and then releasing finding him innocent, said the meeting. The cries of an undeclared emergency are rising in the state recently, said Hameed Vanimel, Jamat e Islami state political secretary. He added that the frightening atmosphere in the state is such that the police can do anything and imprison anybody. It should be made clear as to why innocent Maudany is haunted instead of imprisoning those who foment terrorism and communalism, said Ramesh Nanmanda, BSP state executive member. Maudany’s arrest is the result of the deliberate move of the anti-national forces who have realized that multi-culturalism should be destroyed to destroy the country, opined P Mujeeb Rahman, Solidarity state president. ISM state vice-president Jafar Vanimel, INL Secular Forum secretary NP Abdul Azeez, Moin Bappu, Prathichintha Samskarika Vedi leader PC Bhaskaran, Samajvadi Parishad district committee member PT Muhammed Koya, PDP state secretary Gafoor Puthuppadi and human rights activist A Vasu spoke.

The state government should urgently intervene when Maudany is being subject to denial of justice in another state, said the Al Hadi Association. It opined that the government had legal responsibility to intervene in the case. It added that the aim behind the moves against Maudany is the Sangh Parivar agenda of portraying Muslim leaders as terrorists and destroying the political advancement of the Dalit-backward-minority sections. State president Panipra IbrahimMoulvi presided over the function. YM Haneefa Moulvi, Kallambalam Arshad Qasimi, A Azeez Moulvi, M Abdul Shukoor Moulvi, Karamana Ashraf Moulvi, Kanjar Ahmed Kabeer Baqawi, PM Abdul Jaleel Moulvi, Kallar Sainudheen Moulvi and Pallikkal Abdul Saleem Moulvi spoke.

Abdunnasir Maudany is named 31st accused in the additional chargesheet of the Bengaluru blast case and was arrested by the Karnataka police from Kerala on August 17. He was arrested when on the way to surrender in court. Maudany had lost his right leg in an attempt on his life by some RSS activists in 1992. He was accused in the Coimbatore blasts and spent nearly 10 years in jail before releasing in August 2007 finding him innocent of the charges. Maudany is again behind bars for another blast case. The chargesheet accuses that Maudany had taken part in the conspiracy organized by T Naseer in Kudak. But Maudany’s lawyers say it would not be possible as he was under the B category protection of the Kerala police since his release from the Coimbatore prison. Maudany has maintained he was innocent of the charges and expressed his faith in the judiciary.
