Sangh bullying: Don’t say Hindu terrorism, don’t say saffron terrorism either

By TCN Staff Writer,

New Delhi: The first picture of Hindutva terrorism appeared in the media about two years ago was of a young lady in saffron attire. She was Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur nabbed in connection with the Malegaon bombing. She was followed by arrest of one and half dozen people, all attached to saffron outfits of Sangh Parivar, in the same and other terror cases.

But the Sangh and its political branch BJP almost bullied the Government and media forcing them not to use the word Hindu terrorism, a counterpart of Islamic terrorism. Emboldened they have now pounced on Home Minister P Chidambaram for just mentioning saffron terrorism in his address at police chiefs conference in Delhi two days back

Part of bullying tactics, the BJP and Shiv Sena MPs yesterday disturbed the Lok Sabha and today they have brought the proceedings of the Rajya Sabha to a halt, demanding clarification from the government. They are ‘outraged’ that the minister used the word terrorism with saffron.

No doubt terrorism cannot be affiliated to any religion be it Hinduism or Islam. That’s why after pressure from the Sangh, a section of media now uses Hindutva terrorism in place of Hindu terrorism. But why outrage at the use of word saffron terrorism? Is saffron name of or part of any religion or is it name of any Hindu organization?
