BJP spokesman Tarun Vijay said that the inappropriate response of China over visa of Lt. Gen. B.S. Jaswal, who heads the army’s northern command, was a “matter of concern”.

He said that China had been refusing visa to Indian citizens residing in Jammu and Kashmir and Arunachal Pradesh and had made “incursions” in Indian territory in the two states.

Criticising the approach of the government, he said that work was stopped at a rural job guarantee site in Ladakh after Chinese forces threatened workers.

Alleging that “the domain of the tricolour was shrinking” under United Progressive Alliance regime, Vijay said the government should take “stronger steps to convey its concern”.

Referring to the trade between the two countries, he said China must feel the “economic pinch” of its action.

He said India should also ask China about its response if question of “freedom of Tibet” was reopened.
