New Delhi: A senior external affairs ministry official blamed by former Pakistan president Pervez Musharraf for the collapse of the Agra summit Tuesday appeared non-committal over the remark.
The former military dictator last week alleged that the 2001 Agra summit between India and Pakistan had failed because of Vivek Katju, then joint secretary in charge of Pakistan division.
But Katju, who is now the ministry’s Secretary West, refused to be drawn into any discussion about Musharraf’s remarks to a Hindi news channel.
“I have seen it,” Katju told reporters smilingly at a press conference, referring to the interview telecast last week.
Asked what he has to say about the remarks by the former Pakistani army chief, Katju looked the other way and asked if there were any questions other than this.
Musharraf, who is living in exile in Dubai, told News 24 that the Agra summit was going on smoothly and “there was someone from the (Indian) foreign ministry sitting there named Katju.”
“He may still be there, he created a lot of hurdles,” said Musharraf, who ruled Pakistan 1999 to 2008.
