Indian Mujahideen takes responsibility for Varanasi blast, attributes it to Babri demolition

New Delhi: Barely half an hour after the blast at Sheetla Ghat in Varanasi, banned terror group Indian Mujahideen has sent an email to media houses taking responsibility for the blast. The group has attributed the blast to the 6th December when Babri Masjid was demolished 18 years ago.

According to media reports at least 20 people including some foreigners were injured in the blast that took place at 6:25 pm soon after aarti finished at Sheetla Ghat on banks of River Ganga.

According to NDTV report, a foreigner has died, and at least 20 people are injured but the figures are yet to be confirmed. There were at least 5000 people at the ghats to watch the aarti.

Half an hour after the blast, a mail was sent to the media houses in which the terror group Indian Mujahideen took responsibility for the blast.

“Indian Mujahideen attribute this attack to the 6th of December that will haunt your nation of world’s ‘Greatest DemoNcracy’ until Muslims are paid back justly and fairly for the loss of their beloved Babri Masjid, the precious lives of their near and dear ones, their pride, dignity and self-respect,” reads the beginning lines of the mail. The mail has been sent from seemingly a fake mail id [email protected].
