By IRNA,
Berlin : German Protestant and Catholic churches lambasted center-right government of Chancellor Angela for its ongoing high volume of arms exports, accusing Berlin of cover-up tactics.
In an annual report published Monday, Germany’s churches lashed out at the government for not releasing the actual figures of arms exports, branding it ‘scandalous.’
We have no official numbers, said the Catholic Chairman of The Joint Conference
for Church and Development (GKKE) Karl Juesten.
The churches estimated the overall volume of arms exports hovered around 5.5 billion euros.
The GKKE pointed to the fact that many German weapons were bound for crisis
regions like the Middle East and Pakistan.
